MEQO are developing a series of Quality Profiles for Practices, Acute, Community and Mental Health Trusts in partnership with the other Quality Observatories. The aims of the profiles are:

• to enable commissioners (both NHS and the Health and Wellbeing Boards) to compare the relative quality of their providers;
• to enable providers to benchmark their performance against the National average;
• to share with patients and the public information on the quality of the services being provided.

The profiles therefore fit into both the new Commissioning architecture of the NHS and support the Patient Information Revolution by putting more information freely and transparently into the public domain.

Practice and CCG Quality Profiles Metadata

The Practice and CCG Quality Profiles metadata document contains guidance on how to interpret the Practice and CCG Quality Profiles. It also contains a library of all the indicators displayed on the Practice and CCG Quality Profiles and for each indicator describes the numerator, denominator, methodology, data source, frequency along with any other notes relating to the indicators.
